Scylla's Script Sessions, a writing group for women and marginalised gender playwrights!
Every two weeks we will meet and share our current projects, encourage one another, use stimulus and writing techniques to develop our work, and build a strong supportive community. These sessions will be held at our Silvan House Studio in Corstorphine, Edinburgh.
This is open to women and marginalised gender playwrights (aged 18+) of all writing experience and confidence levels.
Can I attend if I’ve never written anything before?
Yes! This is open to women and marginalised gender playwrights (aged 18+) of all writing experience and confidence levels.
We’ll be covering the basics so don’t worry if you don’t have much experience. Come with a vague idea and an open mind and watch your script grow
How much will the sessions cost?
Our Script Sessions and all refreshments will always be free. We want to make sure there are no barriers to entry for our sessions. If you enjoy them, and would like to donate and support us you can via our Ko-fi page!
I've booked but now I can't attend!
Spaces are limited so if you register for a spot but later find you cannot attend, please cancel to open it up to someone else. With demand and limited space in mind, we want to keep this opportunity open to as many as possible. To keep things fair, we have a three strikes no-show policy. If you reserve a space at our sessions but fail to attend 3 seperate times without giving prior notice (12 hours), you will not be able to reserve a spot in the future.
What do I need to bring?
Something to write on and with (notebook, laptop, etc.). A digital tool to share/read scripts (phone, laptop, etc.). We also STRONGLY recommend bringing warm layers and a water bottle as there is no heating or cold clean water on site.
What if I don’t know anyone!
We’re crafting a community, so you will meet like-minded creatives and make friends. We’re keeping our sessions small so you can grow your confidence, and feel comfortable to talk about and share your work.
Do I have to come to every session?
We know life is busy, you don’t have to attend every week. We’ll be looking at different things every week so you can drop in and out with whatever suits your schedule.
How accessible is the studio for Script Sessions?
Our studio is on the ground floor and there is disabled parking as well as a wheelchair lift for the few steps at the entrance. There are disabled toilets but the alarm system is not active. Unfortunately we do not have funding to provide BSL interpreters. Please email us at scyllasbite@gmail.com for more information.
How do I get to your studio?
There are good bus connections between town and our studio, stopping right outside (26,12,31). The nearest tram stop is Balgreen (about 15 minute walk). We also have a large amount of free parking available on site. The entrance is locked for security, so email or DM if you have trouble getting in.
